Cultivating the CALLING of a Communicator | Reward Sibanda
Jul 16, 2024Today, I connected with Reward Sibanda, a speaker, pastor, and content creator. In today’s conversation, we dig deep into our 'creative calling' and how we, as communicators, have a responsibility to not just be 'effective' but to raise others up to a higher standard. We also talk about how there is an existential crisis amongst the creative community, where we have to constantly 'make content,' and why it is actually 'divine wisdom' to slow down our output.
FROM TODAY'S EPISODE:
- Thinking about story in the context of culture
- How to keep yourself 'pure and uncompromised' as a communicator
- The 'crisis of humility' and why we should protect the 'potency' of our purpose
WHO IS REWARD SIBANDA?
Reward Sibanda serves as Pastor at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, and is also the Senior Advisor for Church and Community Relations at World Vision. Prior to joining the Pastoral team at Saddleback, and WV, Reward served as the Engagement Pastor and the Young Adults Pastor at both Pearl Street Church in San Antonio, and Crossroads Church in Duncanville, Texas.
An engaging communicator with a unique cultural lens, Reward loves and lives to tell engaging stories centered around the Kingdom, and the redemptive power of the Imago Dei as expressed through different cultural contexts and frameworks. He also loves to facilitate candid conversations on the harder issues found at the intersection of the Kingdom and cultural engagement, and is adept at using various mediums from forums, workshops, panels to digital media.
When he is not traveling the US and the World capturing and retelling these incredible stories of human flourishing and Kingdom transformation, Reward can be found in his man cave huddled over a good book or watching Star Trek reruns in Orange County, California, where he currently resides with his wife Pam.
